How can I create a link to a local...
Hi,
I want to insert a link to a pdf file or doc file. I was expecting an element like the picture element for other kinds of files but I did not see anyone. How do I create a link to a pdf file? Do I use Text Link Element? Do I have to move the pdf file to the folder after I export the project?
Thanks a lot,
Sergio

You should create a link of download where you have uploaded your doc and pdf file. This is a easy way to share files.
I see, so there is not a way in which it can be done properly in Site Disigner. It would be nice if in the next versions they add a file element to add a document to the project using a similar way to the picture element. Do you know if someone made the suggestion to the develoment team?
Thanks!
Thanks!

One can simply put the PDF file in Project Resources in Site Designer and use a link element, putting the path to the file in the Href box of the link element in the Element panel.

In an RFF project, I set up a docs folder in project resources, then a sub-folder called Newsletters. I then imported a pdf newsletter into the resources in the Newsletter sub-folder. So in the Href my text link points to docs/newsletters/newsletter41-english.pdf
It works fine on Preview but fails to work live on a browser. One gets a 404 error message
How can the preview work but not live??
Tried it with SD too, same thing.

The filder with the PDF needes to be zipped {or the pdf itself needs to be zipped to a folder)

Make sure your directory and or file naming are correct in your link and match the file and location online. Windows doesn't recognize uppercase but servers do.

That did not work but I changed it from a Resources folder/file to an external link which I should have thought of in the first place. Thanks Wayan
First, you need to make sure that your PDF or DOC files are accessible on your website's server. You can either upload them to the appropriate directory on your web server or use a file hosting service.
