Hey Coffee Cup Development Team and fellow designers,

I wanted to bring up something I’ve mentioned previously in the Site Designer Suggestions forum on March 13th, 2024—the inclusion of the CSS property font-display: swap;. It’s a small but essential feature that can significantly improve SEO and Google PageSpeed Insights scores, particularly related to font loading.

For those unfamiliar, adding font-display: swap; helps with font rendering performance by ensuring that text is visible while custom fonts are loading. Without it, there can be a delay where the text remains invisible (known as a "flash of invisible text" or FOIT), which negatively impacts user experience and can hurt SEO rankings. Google prioritizes fast loading and user-friendly sites, so this CSS rule aligns perfectly with modern optimization best practices.

Right now, I’ve been adding this manually to the various CSS files after every update or design, which can be time-consuming. It would be incredibly helpful if this was integrated as a default option in the next Site Designer update.

I believe that adding this property will help Coffee Cup users optimize their websites more efficiently and stay ahead in search rankings. I appreciate the great work the team has done so far, but this small improvement would make a world of difference.

The problem is I believe that the CSS for frameworks has to be updated by the frameworks developers themselves (*IE Zurb Foundation for foundation 6) not a lot CC can do until they update the CSS files so that CC can use the latest and greatest CSS properties within Site Designer. (well at least that's how it was explained to me a couple of years ago now. Until then no problems using custom code
