hi all~

I wanted to know if we could use exported html files to recapture customized
templates. I oversaved on one of my past exports and actually need that page back.

I can recreate it, I simply want to know if it's possible. Thanks!

Not really but its easy to copy text/images etc into a new project from the exported old project.. its just a matter of styling the layout

Rule of thumb I always go by is to backup (Save As) in a separate backup folder and name the folder the date of the backup. Then I close and open the original again. Only takes a few moments to do.

Yea there really is no way to do what you want.

I always save the site designer project in a folder to the hosting service when uploading the finished project. It's only as an emergency backup if all else fails. Any further updates to the project are uploaded and overwrites the old one. Or I send it as a zipped folder to the client along with the exported project files if they do their own uploads to the hosting service

Just a couple of thoughts -

1. Using Ctrl+s does, as mentioned, save over a project, leaving no way of backtracking to an earlier position once the project has been closed. I find it useful to make and keep multiple copies of a project by
(a) creating an appropriately named folder for the project, in that folder
(b) naming one's first save simply as '00' and
(c) fairly regularly using Ctrl+Shift+s (instead of Ctrl+s), naming as '01', '02' etc.
Such a process does, of course, require sufficient disk space, and may not be appropriate for very large projects.

2. Some programs, such as the Affinity suite (Publisher, Photo, Designer) allow one the choice of saving one's document 'with history', so that one can always backtrack even after closing the project. Perhaps the CoffeeCup team could come up with a way of doing this for Site Designer. While a project is open one can backtrack with multiple keying of Ctrl+z; that presumably means that the history of actions is kept somewhere and could be saved.

You can of course also import all your images from the exported project, even if they are in a folder and subfolders, simply bring the folder (or images) into the resources of the new project .
I usually have a folder with different catagorie inside each subfolder contains the relevant image for that catagorie. Pretty easy done it that way many times, saves a lot of time getting back up and running again.
Same goes for any custom CSS/JS etc.
