On the "share your website thread"...


For me this is the biggest (only serious?) problem with RSD. Is there a realistic way in which this can be addressed? e.g. could a row be given a special property or "name" within RSD whereby if you change it or anything within it it you could "hit a button" that then updates all other occurrences of that "special" row to be identical across the project.

In my little two page site at whisperslongmelford.co.uk I have a rows that are the "header", "menu", "footer area". Changing anything in one of these rows and then copying the whole row to the other page is fine but would quickly become a pain if there were more than say 3 or 4 pages in the project.

If I have missed a major trick and there is already a way of achieving something like this without having to manually paste rows into every page please let me know!

At the moment RSD is pretty amazing but I think functionality that could achieve the above would be another level of awesomeness!!

I read that there are still people who want to use PHP in their HTML.
That can create a file called .htaccess note with a point for the name.
And they are in the following:
  AddType application/x-httpd-php html

save it and put it in your root. Php in all html pages, s now work if you also have php on your server.
That makes RSD with inserting HTML also fun again.

Another piece I ever come exfoliation is CMS itself I use UNIFY I am very pleased and easy to insert in RSD block you want is to give a CMS available an additional class called unify

Thanks for the reply, but perhaps my lack of knowledge means I don't understand your reply fully or I maybe didn't explain myself very well. The last thing I want is to bring a CMS like Unify onto the scene. I want to do all of my work within RSD itself so that what I export from there is what goes up onto the webserver, and any future maintenance of the site happens only in RSD.

What I would like in RSD is the ability to make global changes to the content of certain elements that repeat on most/all pages. In the same way that I can globally change say font size via a class, I would like to be able to change the content of an element that appears on several/all pages. I would be happy if this worked at say "row" level. Then I could consider certain rows as common page elements and know that I can make a change only once to that content and see it reflected on all pages that use it.

Now that I re-read your post, I think what you are saying is that I could set up the HTML for my "common block" as a separate file and then using PHP in conjunction with the "HTML element" on my site pages I could include that file wherever I want to and achieve what I desire?

Any misunderstanding is down to my lack of experience and knowledge at HTML / web site building!

Yes, but my English is not so good, which also give confusion.
I translate my text always in Google. Thus it may not be so obvious.
The funny thing is that HTML CSS and PHP are all english and I have no problem with that.
