Hi, I keep using site designer, however it is running really slow and the software randomly closes.

Is there a solution for this or any recent updates to the program? I'm using windows 11.

Hi Zoe,
Do you have anti virus software running?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I downloaded the latest version (5.0-3541) in March 2023.

On first starting Site Designer (SD) after switching on my computer in the morning, in my experience it seems an age before it gets going. Thereafter, during the day, opening SD is fairly quick, and I've not found slowness in using the program.

There has been mention by others in these forums that they have found continuous use for hours of the program can lead to its slowing down. I believe they save the project and restart the program to remedy this.

It might be worth checking the Windows Task Manager when such slowness occurs to see whether there are memory* or CPU overloads, perhaps as a result of having open large other programs at the same time.

Random closing of the program is not something I've experienced, and I don't recall any previous mention of it in these forums. It may be that the checking mentioned in the previous paragraph will reveal the reason. It's also worth occasionally using SFC (Windows System File Checker) to ensure that there are no corrupt or missing Windows system files.

* Random Access Memory (RAM) is usually fast. When there is insufficient RAM for the task, Windows starts storing what would otherwise be in RAM on the hard drive or SSD, and programs can slow down to a crawl.

Hi, I have McAfee on the computer but I don't have it running. I'll try to uninstall it to see if that will help. McAfee came with the computer, so it was already on

Frank,
thank you for the reminder of your post on this one! I didn't get a chance to respond , but I did see it and downloaded the scroll menu. I haven't added it to my components yet, but as soon as I can, I'll try to use it. I tend to keep my desktop on all the time, so I'll shut it down for a bit to let it rest, then restart and see what happens. Thank you!!!
