Sitemap not working - Post ID 304701
Hi All
I have looked all around and cannot find where the sitemap is generated from as mine on export fails to add the url to the website i get
URL:
REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_SERVER_PATH/
Line 4
Parent tag:
url
Tag:
loc
URL:
REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_SERVER_PATH/index.html
Line 10
Parent tag:
url
Tag:
loc
Now i know how to do a manual change to the sitemap. xml however when i make changes to any website SD over rights with the automatic sitemap which is a pain. Anyone can point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated
Kind Regards
Adrian

I think that the problem arises because the tick in Actions > Preferences persists, even between project (.rsd) files. Perhaps the following might work around the problem, though I haven't tested it.
1. Keep that box unticked normally.
2. Tick it immediately before the first
time a project is Published/Exported.
3. After that Publish/Export, untick that box, and keep it unticked for all future Publishing/Exporting of that project, updating the Sitemap created by item 2 above manually either in the local export or online.

You set up the site map by going to settings
when it opens you enter the project name then under that the domain name for the project (you should enter the appropriate prefix and suffix.
If you then tick the box as Frank suggests, it will publish that site map with the domain already populated.
Once you have ticked that box in preferences, no need to de-select it, unless with a new project you don't want Site designer the publish a site map for that new project.
once a project has been exported I usually check the site map that is generated before FTP
No need to un-tick that box in preferences every time Unless you don't wish site designer to generate a site map automatically
Mind you Frank suggestion is ok, but whichever way you set the site name in settings for each project name and domain name before publishing

I have a step-by-step tutorial "Introducing Site Designer" which covers setting up the site map, I know you are not a newbie and that video is for newbies, but if you still struggle (I'm better at showing how rather than telling how let me know and I will give you the link to watch it. If you still haven't got my Email, it's available from the signature below. (I don't put them onto YouTube now)

Thanks, Wayan.
I, like Adrian, had failed to find instructions about setting up for the sitemap. I had not used the Settings for naming as I just let SD use the name of the project file. As a result, I had not stumbled on the right way to do it.
Thanks again
Frank
