Super Uncool... - Post ID 302382

I've used Coffeecup software to make my websites for many, many, many years. Probably about 20. I have to say, I think it's intensely uncool that suddenly templates I have already owned and used for previous sites on Site Designer won't work unless I upgrade. You already removed many free ones and made me pay for them. I remember a time, way back when, when the whole point of Coffeecup software was that once you owned it, it was yours forever. It was a major selling point. Remember those days? That has certainly changed, yet I am still here. I have purchased this software again (and again) anyway, in spite of lofty promises I once believed. But borking templates without allowing people to download previous versions? FORCING a $99 upgrade- *again?* Times are tough. This feels predatory. I can't believe I am saying this after soooo long, but I think it may finally be time to move on.

A template that one has used with one's version of Site Designer would normally continue to work with that version. Perhaps the original template was deleted from the templates panel and a more recent version of it was downloaded. If so, it may be worth asking the CoffeeCup team whether they would be willing to provide a copy of the older version - posts in these primarily user-to-user help forums aren't necessarily read by the CoffeeCup team.

So that readers don't misunderstand the "it was yours forever" matter, the licensing policy is at https://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles … ng-policy/ . There still is no date at which one's use of Site Designer expires. Renewing what is called a 'subscription' is paying for a year's worth of support and free updates, not for continued use of the program. $99 is the current price of the program. The subscription renewal price is shown towards the end of the licensing policy mentioned above, which makes clear that to take advantage of it one doesn't have to renew immediately.

Thanks for posting this. I was not clear myself and I have been using SD for a while now. This should make it clear to everyone.

This is correct. From my understanding the program in its current state of when you purchased it will be yours to use forever. If you want the new features/bug fixes and such you can purchase a program update.
