New to Site Designer and struggling but getting there. Added a "Text Link" to container to open a PDF file that is in my resources. Much to my dismay it seemed like I had to manually type in the link to the file in the Text Edit Mode for said link. I was expecting a browse function to be able to select the file I wanted to link. Am I missing something? Typing the dang file name in is going to get tedious.

Thanks

You don't do that in text edit mode.
You select the text link go to the Element tab there you will see the box = Href thats where you type in the link
But you still have to type in manually the file name icluding the extension. (If it was an image link no problem it would let you choose which file in resources to link to.)

How elese could you do it to manually type in the target it has always been that way even before Site Designer was born, and still is in the traditional way of building websites (using HTML code etc), I maybe mistaken but I am unaware of any application that provides a BROWSE function for text links

That is I am afraid the way it is

When I double click on the "text link" it provides a blue bar at top that says Text Edit Mode-Text Link and then has the inline elements with Link to edit the link. I put the path and that seemed to work. I see the way you are talking about too. Not sure I understand what appears to be two ways to do this. I'll beat on it some more.

Seems like Site Designer is over sold as being "code" free. While that may be the case you really do have to know your way around CSS to get stuff to work properly. I'm a bit lacking in this area but will get there.

A browse function to select a file would be pretty simple add. I thought I remembered other tools from my past that allowed this - perhaps Dreamweaver - dunno - its been a while since I've done web work.

thanks

The facility for adding links within Text Edit Mode is intended for situations where the link is (or the links are) included among the non-linking text of the element, such as a Text element or Paragraph element.

In the case of a Text Link element, the element is itself a link. If one enters the href within Text Edit Mode, the effect in a browser is the same as adding it in the Element panel, but the source code will be found to be slightly longer. Having multiple ways of achieving the same appearance in a browser is, of course, common in web coding.

One of the advantages of using the Href box in the Element panel is that it does have the browse function mentioned. Deleting the hash (or any previous entry that has been made there) and, if necessary, pressing the keyboard's down arrow key, reveals a drop-down list of the project's pages and any hrefs that have previously been entered in the project.
