Updating html at breakpoint level...
Hi all ~
So, I want to know if there is a way that I can update my preferences for breakpoints by correcting the html without having to start completely over. I don't mind doing it over again, however, the last time I tried to do it over, the files completely corrupted.
Any recommendations to make it more responsive?

For people to be able to help they would need to know
1. whether by 'preferences for breakpoints' the meaning is
(a) the styling choices at the present breakpoints, or
(b) the choices of where the breakpoints are set;
2. how changing the HTML (code produced by Site Designer itself is already correct) is intended to be done, i.e. whether by
(a) editing the HTML and CSS in an HTML editor, or
(b) using Site Designer.
It may also be helpful to give the URL of the website in question so that people aren't struggling to help without seeing the actual problems.
In my experience Site Designer has never produced corrupted files. It seems likely that the corruption mentioned has been been in uploading to the internet host.
Before exporting to one's internet host, it seem to me wise always first to export SD projects to one's local hard drive to check that everything works as it should.

I might add once again, it's not the HTML code that controls how it looks at any breakpoint, it is the CSS code (and possibly any JS code if some special thing has been done (IE 'Out Of View)
So even if it was feasible to do what you are asking about doing after exporting, it would be a mammoth and delicate task, that even seasoned professionals would probably not even attempt. I tried it once as an experiment, and gave up after a few hours of getting nowhere.

Hi Frank how are you doing? I wanted to let you know, that arguably the filehost is not corrupted, the .rsd is corrupted. I have tried countless times to reopen the project and all it states is that the file is corrupted and cannot be opened. My previously exported htmls from this .rsd project work fine.

Can you put a screenshot of the message you get when you try to open the project file

After trying to reopen the file, this is what shows up
Answers about the possibly corrupted project (.rsd) file (that you couldn't open when you changed its name) have been provided in another thread ( https://www.coffeecup.com/forums/site-d … post304846 ).
Unless one is very experienced with HTML and CSS, attempting to adjust the HTML and CSS of the exported files using an HTML editor would almost certainly not be worthwhile.
It seems possible that the problem is with the name given to the project file. One could try
(a) making a copy of the project file;
(b) changing the name of that copy to something simple, like (without the inverted commas) 'a.rsd';
(c) trying to open that file 'a.rsd'.

Hi Zoe and Frank
I did reply to this (screenshot) almost immediately after you posted it, but it isn't there anymore (a bit strange)
You could also do something similar to what Frank is suggesting
1/ open the project file from the location (not the html exported file but the .rsd file)
or
2/ open a new project
when it has opener, go to the option "open recent" and see if the project file is listed and if so try to open it from there
or
3/ open file explorer,
select "this pc" and do a search for
.rsd
Just .rsd not anything else,, that should then open all of your project files etc,, look though the results, until you see your project file name and select the file.
IF it still won't open from there, then I really really don't think there is going to be anything you can do other than start it afresh with a new one.
As Frank says even for the very experienced user, to mess about with editing HTML CSS and possibly JS to from the exported file, is very long winded, fraught with danger and would take a considerable amount of time.
Sorry for this reply being late I don't understand how or why my previous reply isn't there anymore,

Zoe, I haven't replied to your questions for a while, because I don't like trying to work in the absolute dark. 'Dark' as in not being able to see what kind of problems you need help with. You may realise that if you had allowed us to take a look at your project earlier on, maybe you would have avoided the mess you have got into now.
All of us here are users, we are not CC staff members. But those of us who are trying to help are to some extent professionals when it comes to solving problems in SD. We have been here for quite a long time, actually since before SD was 'born', so we have been following the development over the years. Some of us are actually advisors to CC about the programs they make and what they put into them, and we test new versions before they come live to the rest of you.
We don't steal other people's ideas, we don't laugh at simple mistakes. We have all been beginners at some time. We share with you and all the rest of the users here various bits and bobs that we have produced ourselves, just to help you get along.
Having said all this, what if you tried to hunt down your project file from before you changed the name? I hope you didn't just delete it?
