Rather than asking for a free version of what everyone pays for, maybe you should contact CC about offering a version through your school. Maybe a grant is available or even a free version (with ads) that is available after submitting requested info from CC to prove you are in high school and need it for school. I know CC offers specials to schools so you might have a teacher look into it for you.
But if you are using it for "business" or even for "pleasure" gaming or personal website why should someone get it for free? Both business and pleasure web design are costly. If you want to "play you gotta pay".

I agree Rick, someone has to pay or there would be no development and when you consider how cheap CC Software is then why not pay to play!

I'm confused by this post, because we have never offered a completely free version of VSD. The trial is free, but that only lasts 30 days. Once it expires, you have to purchase the software to keep working with it. We do offer an educational version free, and your school can fill out the request at http://www.coffeecup.com/education/

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
