In What Year Was That Posted? - Post...

Labels like "Today," "Yesterday" or "Last Thursday" make it easy to note recent forum posts. So does the "Show New Posts" forum tool. However, once a post is more than two weeks old, it becomes impossible to tell if it's from this year, last year or five years ago without actually opening it. It sure would be nice to have the year included in the "Last Post" column of the forum summary pages.

Not a biggie, just an annoyance.

If you are using the Show New Posts option it will only show the new Posts since last login and normally it will not show posts that are really old...

Lucky for you guys, here in the UK I regularly get " posted 30 minutes from now"

This i notice often occurs when Scott has said Soon in a thread, and he has usually answered the question an hour or two before it was asked ;)

Dam confusing here in the UK no wonder i am tearing my hair out

Back in my corporate days, I answered a question the day before it was asked. I was about to leave for home at 8:30 PM, East Coast U.S. time, when my Australian distributor 'phoned. Luckily, I just happened to know the answer to his question off the top of my head, so I was able to give him what he needed immediately.

The dawn had come up like thunder upon day N for him a couple of hours before. For me, day N-1 was drawing to a close.

We probably ought to operate under sidereal time (http://www.polaris.iastate.edu/NorthStar/Unit4/unit4_sub2.htm) and tote atomic clocks around with us anyway.

Nonetheless, I would appreciate conveniently knowing in what year a particular post happened.

I would have to agree with you Halfnium, I too would love to see the year shown in the thread listing. Would keep from having to open a lot of them that haven't been posted in for quite a while.

As it stands I use the Show New Posts link in the menu to the right (or under if you're on a small screen) to automatically check new posts since my last visit. Searching is where this would come in extremely handy as well as when the forum burps and loses all the latest posts since my last visit... which it does a good handful of times a year lol.

I vote yes for this!

I do have to admit that the post needs to be a certain age for it to show the year. I really haven't looked at what time frame that is but I can see the year listed in the post.
Month, Day, Year, Time

I can't add my opinion on this, since mine rarely say anything other than "Today..." I hang out here way too much :P
