I've built several church websites and have installed a bible search for some of them. Most of the bible search programs have you link to another site so that the results appear on your website. It would be great to have one that sits on your server so you do not have to deal with another server going down. It's imperative that it is searchable as well.

Not knowing exactly what kind of search results you want to have, but maybe CC Flash Website search can be customized to do what you want?

Maybe you could give us an URL to an example of what you are thinking of.

For the search links to be on your site, you would need to have the Bible text on your site in a searchable form. Then you may run into issues with providing the version each person prefers.

Are there versions of the bible text? I didn't know that.

But if you add a sentence about which version you have, then you should be covered. Visitors to your site would then know, they have to take it - or leave it.

Inger,

I would bet you even have your Bible in your native language. That of course would NOT be used much here. :)

I tried to learn a second language in high school, and after two years of classes, the teacher suggested I find other classes to take. :(

Of course the bible has been translated to Norwegian.
I speak five languages, and understand two more quite well, plus one that I understand sort of halfways

I had a stand alone application for couple of years on one of my sites that worked well and I liked it because I had the same feeling you did about linking over to someone else. That site is deleted now.

It is a great domain name and hope to get it back up one of these days: G0dhope(dot)c0m

Inger,

Here I am late in life just now getting some education. I would not trade my life for anything, but I do wish I had gotten my education when I was younger.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
