I've decided to set some firm hours recently for work and so far it has been a huge benefit. Having set hours also keeps me fresh and I think it's a good move for me to prevent burn out. Does anyone else have set hours?

Add: I do make exceptions for "emergencies" or if overloaded with sales.

Right now I don't, but I don't work outside of the house so I can be pretty flexible in my work hours. I drive a lot for little old ladies in the area taking them to appointments and shopping and such so flexible is good for me :)

I definitely get that Jo Ann, and getting out some, and taking time "off the box" or just having some fun on the net is what I need (I think)...driving the elderly sounds like a rewarding job.

I probably ought to set some firm hours, at times I find myself at the computer both day and night. When I'm working on something, I get very much 'sucked in' and can't leave it.
But if I do set firm hours, they've got to be flexible. Having been a slave of the 9-4 routine for 40 years, I really enjoy having some flexibility.
Ha en riktig god dag!

I'm 'in the office' 24/7 when on the road. (18-wheeler) My job is driving and delivering freight, so any down time is time for the computer (in the back of my truck). Flexible doesn't even begin to describe what I am. I think the only person that keeps up with my hours is Scott. He'd be retired by now if they paid him by the hour! :D

I do my web work when ever time allows. Jumping around my boys schedules puts me mostly in the late evening to early morning hours. I've been up until 1:00 am - 2:00 am lately trying to get the final touches on website that has been in the works for 6 months.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I let clients think I have set hours – Mon. to Fri., 9:00–6:00. I respond to emails and phone calls within those hours. My actual 'schedule' is all over the place. But I do more at night, usually working till around 1 or 2 am. I like having some free time during the day. :D

Yeah we list our hours as the 9 - 5 type thing, but we work all over the place lol. Course I do things when I think about doing then so I don't forget too! We should adopt fully the 9 - 5 type thing for client interactions though, but sometimes it's not always possible... especially those few people that call whenever it's convenient for them (6:30am because they are on a diff time zone and schedule and they think you're on theirs lol) or 11pm for the same reasons! haha, it's all good though I'm usually on the computer most of the time anyways :P

I agree Paintbrush, and my point for sure, lol. My issue is that I get very obsessive about building websites and in the past, staying up to 2AM just meant I would have more time to work on websites the next day, and I would not take the free time to go out and enjoy the world. I'm working toward a long term goal, but I think that my work engulfs my life when I put too many way long hour days except when I do my day job at the hospital. Not taking some "me time" off is just not good for my mental health either (coming from someone who works on a psych unit).
