So, I did the upgrade this afternoon, and so far I haven't found anything that doesn't work (thanks, CC, for the Insight fix!). Well, maybe one thing: it seems completely impossible to shut down Skype. I don't use it, and I don't want it to take up space on the task bar. Maybe I delete it, we'll see...
What I do like about Win 10 is that you don't have all those bits and bobs tucked away in the corners, as they were in version 8.x.
It will be interesting to see how Edge will perform compared to IE. Has anyone already formed an opinion about that?

Have to try tomorrow. I didn't have it in sleep mode while I was testing it. I'll report back.

I had no problems here with sleep mode. Just clicking my mouse woke up the computer. I can say from using it all weekend, Windows 10 is vastly faster then Windows 7 or 8. I almost have to say I like Windows again! :)

I installed on a desktop, not my laptop yet, and have had no issue. To me Edge seems okay, but I still prefer Chrome. Might just be what I'm used to. I do like the look and feel of Win 10. It seems nice and clean and does seem to run faster as Scott says. But it's still Windows. I've gotten 2 sets of updates already ( in 3 days ).

Have tried sleep mode, both selected manually and having the laptop 'fall asleep' by itself. I clicked the Enter key, and the machine woke up again, no problem at all. I also tried pressing lightly the on/off button, worked too.
When I tried win 10 yesterday, I thought it was slow in starting up. What I didn't realize, was that it was updating itself. This morning the booting was very fast.

There are a couple of things that I wonder about, maybe someone can shed some light on it:

Since my win10 installation was an upgrade from win 8.1, I still have win8 components, which I don't need, or that don't work? I'm not a gamer, but it does happen that I unwind with some Solitaire or Mahjong games. The Mahjong ones don't work.
I also seem to have both Edge and IE, and both work.
And then, as I mentioned yesterday, I can't shut down Skype. That was possible in win8

I learned a long time ago that I simply don't upgrade Windows. I haven't tried Win 10, but every other version in which friends, family or colleagues upgraded to the next version resulted in problems. As far as speed, Windows always starts out fast but it bogs down within 6-9 months after several updates have happened.

I'll wait a little while on Win10. Everything I've read sounds like it will be pretty good (even though leaked slides show that Win will only be free for a couple of years possibly). I want to wait to see how much, if any, fallout there will be.

Same here. I never "upgrade". Always do a format of the hard-drive and then install the OS. That way your system is clean and doesn't have forks to other builds.

You are of course right, Brian, and I have also always preferred clean installs. The reason why I upgraded was simply to find out what the buzz was about. I can reset my laptop any time If I want. But most likely I'll go for win10, and I read in a PC magazine that it would be possible to burn Win10 to a DVD, I have not found out how, though, and whether they meant an installation DVD or just a backup with everything included, like the laptop is now. If I can't make an installation disk, I'll wait for the prog. to be issued on a DVD, even if I have to pay for it.

Did it a few days and 'upgraded' from 8.1. Wasn't sure if I should because I actually like 8.1.

Not a good experience at first but it's grown on me so much I don't even notice the operating system now.

My initial issues were that everything wasn't upgraded/download. For example the Photos app. I would launch it but get a grey bar almost all the way across below the icon and nothing else. After a day or two of cussing I noticed that the apps which didn't work started to work. I'm wondering if they weren't being downloaded in the background.

Also W10 reminds me of some of the GNU/Linux desktops from a while back I used to use.

Very good though, eventually.
