We don't have the Thanksgiving celebration in Norway (except for some special liturgy in the churches on the coming Sunday), although I guess it won't be long before we have adopted that too. We seem to end up with all the special days you have in America sooner or later. We've already had the 'Black week' all this week, we have had Halloween and Valentine for quite some years. I wonder when we will start celebrating July 4th, although the date means nothing to us in Norway, except that the flags come out anyway, since it also happens to be our present Queen's birthday.
Of course I wish all those who celebrate these days, for whom they have a real meaning, all the best!
But I'm sceptical to Norway taking all this on board, just because our shops see a golden chance to have some extra sales campaigns, urging people into buying their various items.
So, enjoy your family get-together and your turkey. I think I'll have fried fish today.
