PC unused for 18 months - clogging...

I've just been having a week without internet, or practically without a PC. I have a laptop (Win10) 'residing' in our summer residence in Turkey, but because I lost my husband last year, I haven't been there for 18 months. Now, when I booted the laptop, Windows update started at least 10 different things, then Office update, Adobe update, the CPU had an update +++, not to forget dropbox, oneDrive and Icloud. Can somebody please tell me, if it is possible to queue all those updates so that I get one after the other instead of all at once? I was able to pause Dropbox, Adobe and oneDrive, but those Windows updates were really insisting. I ended up with taking my laptop to an internet cafe with fiber connection and got at least some of it done, but there is still a back log. Any suggestions? (I was wise enough to download my CC progs and burn them on a CD before I left home).

Sadly, the best thing to do is let the up-dates all run. I worked at a computer store and much of our time was updating windows with new, out of the box computers (which often equated to your 18 months of not being used as the version stamped on the HD was probably a year old at assembly). It was the service we offered when buying through us. Most customers never realized it takes so long to do that. They think... out of the box and go!! Many would bring it back to us after realizing forced up-dates were a headache and would pay the small fee.

Additionally, you may hear someone say otherwise...but I have seen instances where interfering with the up-dates (i.e. stopping them before they are done) causes more headache than waiting. Good luck!

Well, I did stick it out, and it took me 12 days to get those Windows updates...

I've had friends that intentionally ignored updates for longer than 18 months and put themselves into this same issue. I'm glad you were able to finely get it all updated.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hehe, my two weeks here in Turkey are up, going home tomorrow. As I said, it took me 12 days to get the updates, and then came the weekend, when all the Turks are sitting in internet cafes playing games or whatever, so the band width of this town has been completely clogged up. It's starting to get better now, as it is Sunday evening, nearly midnight, but I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow morning, so it's good night from me here.
I've been going to Turkey for nearly 30 years, but it has never been as bad as this.
So, now the laptop will be left alone for at least three months again...
