Hi folks

Looks like a lot of neat sites out there, here's what I've been working on:
http://www.thepenpoint.com

It has been built completely using VSD with a shopping cart added to the site from ZenCart. I would love to get some feedback on it, as I am not done with it, nor am I totally sure I like the way it all comes together, but I am still learning how all this stuff works.

Jake

Hi Jake,
Are you using an HTML box for part of the copy in your site?
You have a heading in the middle.........rare woods etc. which overlaps an area of text which I assume should follow on from the heading.
What I have noticed using VSD is that if you use a text box, the text remains constant. If you use an HTML box and add your text in there, the text is flexible according to the settings one has in their browser.

Hi Janys

No, there shouldn't be any HTML boxes on the page, since it was basically just pics and text, I did everything with a text box or image box. (actually, didn't notice the HTML button on the toolbar until most of the site was done :) ). What browser are you using? I haven't noticed an overlap on it using Firefox or IE.

Hello Jake,
Here is the image I am seeing.....
www.venicedigital.com/coffeecup/forum/overlap.jpg
and what I have also noticed is that you are using a number of unusual fonts.
Don't forget that unless you make an image with those fonts to ensure that they remain, many browsers will only show up their default fonts, and not the unusual ones. That could be causing problems.
I am using IE 6.00 at 1024 x 768

Thanks for the reply Janys

I see what you are talking about, now the question becomes one of how do I fix it. Does checking the 'allow advanced text' box change the text to an image? or do I need to look elsewhere to create the text as a graphic file?

Still learnin'

You really should use your usual graphics program to create an image and then import it into your VSD in the usual way you would any other image.
Don't worry about being a beginner....... I bet not many folks can make those gorgeous pens! We can't all be good at everything.

Thanks for the reply Janys,

...and for the flowers, I do feel more at home in front of the lathe than the keyboard. :) I'll start digging around and see what I can come up with. I wonder if that is why I get some text that just doesn't seem to want to cooperate in other places as well. Actually, this whole process is kinda becoming fun.

Jake,
Once you sort out your problem, give me a shout and I would like to add your site to my links page if that's ok with you......
See www.cloart.com/ambassadors.html
I will need a small image, maximum 200 pix wide, and just a tiny description such as those you can see on my page.
Don't want a link in return, nor anything else....so let me know if you are interested.
Ciao,
Janys
