Yeah. I was reflecting on where I got the characters from, and it occurred to me I have MS Office on my machine, and she may not (or the UK version might be different). I'd be curious to know what she sees when she looks at the actual HTML of my text; I bet it'll show a "?" there, too.

So (and this probably should go to the thread I just started in the VSD forum) that opens the question of how to get HTML codes to display properly when you put them into text boxes?

Here's a very useful link, btw:

In one of the extended charsets TM is ™

Be interesting to see whether FF supports it.

Spinny,

I tend to use codes that I can easily remember.

™
©

I get these from: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_symbols.asp

And there it is. Awesome, thanks!

(clearly I don't spend enough time at the w3schools site ;) )

I find that the ™ and © work, but I read somewhere that the numeric values are more accepted in browsers as 'standard' accross the board, and may have a wider selection of characters to choose from.
Just like you can specify a font color by name, 'blue' or 'red' or 'green', the rgb value will give you a much wider range. For common things like copyright, © should work in all browsers.

Well, either way. One of the great things about this site as a resource is the international flavor of the members. Where else might someone have caught my special symbol problem?

Color me chuffed. ;)

Spinny
I followed you over to the Editing queries forum. I will go over there with my "new" findings.

I have to sing the praises of the Form Builder. Wow, that was easy. My Contacts page has now been completely redone using it.
