That is correct. There is a very limited window of editing capabilities, especially if a post already has replies.

The Post a Rely button does nothing for me and posting in the text box at the end of the thread and clicking Add My Reply does not have spell check that I see. And I have typos and down right misspellings all the time. :/

Why not allow edits or deletions unless a reply has been made? I have seen that in some forums as well.

I gave up trying to figure out why our developers do things the way they do in the forums long ago. ;)

I think in the new dev site that everyone is looking at in the Embassy has some forum modifications to it.

When i post in the Add My Reply box, if I misspell something it underlines in red to tell me that. Now I don't know if that's my computer doing that, or the forums, that part I couldn't tell you, but I do know it does it lol.

I confirmed with Jeff on what the specifics actually were.

1) An admin can always edit/delete a post.
2) A regular user has a 15 minute period to edit / delete their own posts.
3) The original post in a thread can not be edited after other responses have been added, even if the other posts were from the original author.

NOTE: What you see in Rod's screen shot was a bug. It was mistaking the first post on the page for the first post in the thread and applying rule 3. This has been corrected.

Jo Ann - That is probably your browser (I'm guessing, cause I get it too, that you are on FireFox?). And that is ONE of MANY reasons that I LOVE FF :D

I get the spell check on Chrome also, but that doesn't necessarily mean I LOVE Chrome! ;)

That's why I said it's ONE of MANY reasons. I won't bore folks with the rest of the list.
