Yeah much faster for me too that is one of the things I love the most.

@Per - Just checking to see if you're paying attenion :P hahahahaha

I think Inger is right on that upgrade vs. clean install as I did a clean install and had no issues at all. If you did an upgrade you may want to consider a clean install instead.

Hope you like the launch bar thing, it's like my right hand man now! lol Here's a link to a screenshot of what mine looks like at the moment:

It's a bit long in full size, but better to see the whole thing that way. I have mine right above the task bar on my second monitor which makes it easy to get to no matter what I'm doing on my main monitor (in other words, it's there even if in full screen of anything and when on the Start Page, etc. ) and as you can see I've added the date thing to it so I don't have to stretch the height of my normal task bar to see it. You can set up sections with dividers between them and menus and folders etc. Pretty versatile little tool :)

I am sticking with XP I can make it do what I want. Plus I have my own Launch thingie I call Control_IT does what that does plus heaps more. Doesn't clutter the desktop.
It resides on a 4gig USB. Wanna try it. Post a usb drive with a return prepaid envelope and I will give you a copy. The program runs in a virtual drive, stored in a 3gig encrypted container, hot key activated. Pastes in pass info or not, keeps memos, loads create message without client loaded with address set, loads pages on click no browser loaded,(similar to Open Page if anyone got to try that, Remember that was to preview VSD project pages ) and frees the desktop of shortcuts. it has an application launcher and a long term memory system. Did I have fun creating this. I plug it in to any computer and I have my own setup ready to go. All data encrypted and safe.

I have one with a Ubuntu operating system on it, now that's fast once it loads. Yes I love my XP, you just have to tickle the operating system and let her rip.

That sounds interesting, Prism. Nice of you to offer that :)

I did the upgrade so I could keep all my files/programs... but it didn't work out that way :o. Now since there's not enough space to re-install most of it, there's very little to lose with a fresh install. ;)

Jo Ann, thanks for the screenshot. That helps to show how it actually works. I don't have much need for it now since I don't even save files on that computer (external drive for everything). No room for Per's gremlins over here!

This may end up as a Linux machine :D

Note it has to be delivered this way to check the encryption. I do sell them actually $49.99Aud. and give copies away. I bought a new navigator with proceeds this month. At my age it is good to please people.

Paintbrush why don't you image your system drive. Add a new Terabyte drive and re load the image. If you can reduce the size of the system's swap file and get rid of useless systems running you will be surprised at how fast a computer will hike. I had an old AT(New Then) testing motors on a production line which required more instructions than most programs do today. Windows has too many tasks running simultaneously. Close them down. Check the Task Manager and see them all. eliminate all programs that start at boot up. Run CCleaner at least once per week.

I have to shower daily due to all the wisdom that seeps out :o

It may be propaganda but I heard the Apollo Moon lander used a Tandy computer to control its systems.
Remember it is not the size of the dog in the fight it is the size of the fight in the dog.

seeping, seeping. shower soon.
