Web Calendar error - Post ID 211056
When I open the Web Calendar software, an error message comes up "Error in XML file C:\Users\.....\8thDistrict.xml". When I click the "OK" button, that calendar is no longer visible. There are 2 other calendars created (Work and Personal). When I go to the location where that file is and open the xml file, the file is blank, however, still shows the file size as 37 KB. The other calendars that I've created open up fine. How can I retrieve the events that where in this calendar without having to recreate everything from scratch? I've tried opening the xml file in Microsoft Excel 2010 and get a "parsing" error. Thanks
I would try reinstalling the Calendar to see if it clears this up. If it doesn't open a support topic.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I tried re-installing the Calendar and the same error comes up. What now?

Hey Richard, use CoffeeCup HTML Editor and open the XML file. It loaded just fine for me, and all your info is in there. If you start a NEW calendar, then just put in 2 or so events, then 'copy/paste' the rest of the info from this XML to the new one. I think that might work?

Thank you Gunsmoke, that seemed to work. That saved a lot of time from having to re-enter all those events. But the error message still comes up everytime I open Web Calendar. How can I stop the error message from coming up? Thanks
My guess is something got corrupted. I would uninstall the calendar program, and delete your copy. Then re-download a new copy from CoffeeCup and install using Admin rights. Then create a new calendar as discussed above. After you get it all done, try opening it with the program. If you still get the error, it must be something in your xml code that's tripping it. At that point I would open a support ticket with coffeecup and see if one of the gurus in there can figure it out.
Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out.

Gunsmoke, I tried uninstalling the web calendar software and re-installed it as you suggested, however, the errror still came up. Since I created a new calendar (named it something else) and copied the information from the previous xml file all I had to do was delete the original xml file and the error went away. Now I still have all the data and so far the Web Calendar program still works. Thanks for your help
Glad to hear it's working. May have been something in the xml file, or may have simply been a disk error where it was stored. May never know but I'm glad you're back in business.
