The topic of adding comments to a website has come up quite often on the forum. Advanced forum members (Wayan, Inger, Eric Rohloff, and others) mentioned that this issue can be resolved using WFB, for which I am very grateful! Personally, I still don’t understand how this can be done. I tried, but it didn’t work for me. I created a database on the hosting and seemed to connect it, but nothing worked. Therefore, I have a big request to all the advanced forum members: could you please make a small guide on how to add comments to a website using WFB, either as a component or step-by-step instructions, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure this would help many and be useful.

I'm not one of the 'savvies' about this thing. I remember that Eric once had a solution for this using WFB and SD. You need to wait until he is back from his holiday, though.

I would like to resolve the issue with comments. The thing is, as it turns out, out of all the contact forms, the vast majority of people prefer comments. I’ve tested this on three different websites, each in a different language, so the ethnic factor doesn’t play a role here. The websites had contact forms for WhatsApp, Viber, Signal, and classic email submissions (mailto). And there was silence, like in high, deserted mountains. But as soon as I enabled the comment option in WP, a flood of comments started pouring in. Moreover, less than half a percent of it was spam. Out of over 500 comments, there were only 3-4 spam messages. The same was true for two other websites.

Now, the question is—how can this be understood and explained? So far, the only explanation that comes to mind is that 99% of people believe in free and anonymous internet use. I have no other explanation. Regardless, comments, as it turns out, are an essential feature, especially for informational websites, and I believe they would be useful for all types of websites. For some reason, people prefer comments over other contact methods. Therefore, it would be great if it were possible to create at least one 'comments' component or solve this issue in any other way.

How do you want to save the comments, Database or CSV?

Hello Eric! You are currently on vacation, and that’s sacred So relax, I’m in no hurry. When you are free, we can discuss the issue. Regarding the form, I would like to ask your advice on how best to create it, using SD or WFB. I will be connecting to a database 8-8.2 as suggested by my host.

I have a simple mock up with a form and a comments blog.
The script sends an email to the person filling out the form and a notification email to me. The email to me has links that allow me to ok the comment or delete the comment.
Let me know if there's anything else and I can add it.
I'm altering the script to also send the notification email to the person filling out the form so you can see how the links with the email work. So in testing you should receive two emails, one as a thanks for the comment and one email to approve or delete the comment.

Is it difficult to connect this to pages?
As far as I understand this in a Java script, I just don’t understand what the ID value is, is it the ID of the page on which the comment will be posted? And is there a "reply" function?

Fantastic! Eric, you are simply a wizard! Does everything work? Is it hard to attach to the website? I’m ashamed to ask, and I realize this is the height of audacity, for which I apologize, but I just have to ask.
Is it possible to turn all this into a single component for SD? If a component or symbol could be made, I would gladly buy it. Either way, thank you so much Eric!

Here's a new version. My suggestion is to do alterations to script to only be able to connect to data base and have links correct. Manually export site and test as is. Don't alter any styling as we need to see this work as is.
There's an instruction included in the resources of the SD project along with the php page that will create the table for you. Remember to upload the pdo-connect.php first to allow this to work. You'll have to alter that with your database login info.
