The only thing I can recommend is visiting http://www.positioniseverything.net
That will provide you with a list of all the known IE8 bugs that you would need to correct in the website. If you are unwilling to do that then you best bet is to not use one of our themes and create a simpler theme that will be viewable via IE8.
