Forum design suggestion - Post ID 272486

I suspect that some forum users start a new thread with a query, but fail to see the answers given because
(a) they forget where they posted it, or
(b) they haven't visited the forums for a while, and forget that they posted it, or
(c) they manage to work out a possible solution, and overlook that other solutions may have been provided.

I think it would be useful if it could be arranged that the person who starts a new thread
(a) is automatically subscribed to that thread, or
(b) sees advice to subscribe to that thread.

I think back in the day we did the auto-subscription and had a lot of complaints about it and turned it off, but that was probably 10 years ago. Might be worth re-looking at.

If auto-subscription for those who start new threads proved a nuisance to some, perhaps my second option* may be preferable.
