Image Quality - my only hangup. -...

Love the software, very user friendly and I'm getting some good playtime with it, but the only thing holding me back right now is poor image quality.

After I build and save my sites the image quality degrades. Frequently it'll be fine for the first session or two, but after a few editing sessions thumbnails, and even my larger images come out pixellated. Considering that my shots are all originate at 12.1 MP jpegs, it's a little surprising. I've tried cropping and scaling photos in a separate editor before importing to VSD but they still become blurred.

I've also had a similar problem working with the Firestarter while creating a simple product display window. All photos used for this project originated as the same 12.1MP jpegs, were imported into GIMP, edited into smaller text/graphic displays, then exported as PNG format. Upon importing into Firestarter, all layers other than the background layer were significantly blurred.

Is there some simple solution for this? Perhaps a compression setting or I'm missing? Or are there more effecient formats for importing into VSD and Firestarter?
