hey, i posted a while back that the VSD wouldnt letme upload buti just uploaded the file folders fopr each page to my website with filezilla.anyway i got a few problems i gotta figure out one after useing VSD and placeing my tab buttons n naming themn what not the sometimes move around n idk y os ijsut delete them n re make them, am i doing something wrong there? and also on the site on some of my pages its makeing them index pages and idk why, if someone could take a look at it and help me plz, i only got a few days to get this finished

browse around it i got the top buttons working fine but the boat buttons send me ot an index page... a few buttons get moved like i said up top and i got alot of things i just gotta re change but before ido any of that i have to get this thing out of index fourms.

Just a gentle, friendly suggestion, - not on your website but on your post. I got tired of deciphering after about 4 lines...
If it's worth posting, it's probably worth spending the couple of extra minutes needed to spell out complete words, separating the words and using some punctuation here and there. It may pay off to show your readers some basic respect. We are not all texting teenagers, you know.

Kendrick, I have tried to read your post, but I gave up. If you have a problem with something, you have to do what Per is suggesting.

I'm sorry but your post is a little confusing. I checked some of your links. The tracker link is working fine. Your Tracker directory has a main page but it looks like the rest don't. Your linking to the directory instead of linking to the page in the directory on the ones that don't work.

Hi, I posted a while back that the VSD wouldn't let me upload but i just uploaded the file folders for each page to my website with file zilla instead and that seemed to work. Anyway i got a few problems i really need to figure out.

1. After using VSD and placing my tab buttons and naming them they sometimes move around and switch with each other and i can not figure out why. Can someone explain why this is? Usually i just delete them and re make them, but if there is a simpler way i would very much like to know.

2. Also on the site on some of my pages its making them index pages. And i am linking them to the proper files, I thought i wasn't but i re linked them 3 times and each time yields the same result.

Also, i re linked them all to the proper files folder and re uploaded them to the site. Problem is they still are only taking me to the folder containing all the different folders. I will give it one more shot here in a bit, but i don't expect it be any different.

I think i figured it out. Stupid mistake if this is right, but when i upload it, I had all the links except Tracker (which worked) set to www.unioncitymarine.com/test/HomePage

Which is not ever a site, i simply left off the 1 on test..... o and am i doing something wrong that is causing the buttons to shift? Or is that just a glitch that comes with doing the website? Thanks

You seem to be doing something basically the wrong way.

1. When creating a site, the first page you make will automatically be the index.html. When adding more pages to the same site you have to click on 'Add page' on the menu bar. If you do this, VSD will save the additonal pages in the same folder as the index page. You seem to have started with File -> New Website every time you wanted a new page, and that is why you have every page in its own folder.

2. When uploading using some other ftp client than the built-in one it's the content of the folder 'whatever_website' you have to upload, not the folder itself. The contents will be the pages you made and a folder called 'files' (holding any graphics for the pages).

I suggest that you open the folder with your main index file, add the other pages in VSD by a lot of copy-pasting, then correct the paths to the various pages for the buttons. Before you upload this, go to your site with Filezilla and clear out the various folders you have there. Then upload whichever way is working for you.

Another hint: In your paths you have used some upper-case and some lower-case file names. Some servers regard the same word written with upper and lower case as two different words (like Files and files). I would recommend that you stick to lower-case throughout all file and folder names and paths.

The shifting of the buttons could be due to a bug which has recently been detected in the new version. But if you do as I said above in #1, you should be ok on that too.

Thank you. You are right, i didn't know that there was an add page feature. I wish i had a manual, but yes i opened a new Website every time and then used file zilla to upload the file folders to the site in pretty much that same folder on the website.

Since ive already got this website up this way i may leave it, and on my next one i will do it the correct (easier) way. Because I need to finish this up fast and start on the next one, and then maybe once i get the 2nd one up ill go back and fix the first.

But thank you for your help my trial ends in 3 days then I am going to purchase the program, do y'all have any suggestions on what else would help make better looking sights?
