Hi,
I used a different HTML editor for about ten years, and I mostly continued upgrading the software because I was comfortably familiar with the commands. I didn't think I would ever use a different editor, but after trying CC's latest free version I have stopped using the competitor's software. I don't use much of any features within HTML editors other than changing the fonts and colors of the code's display, but the one thing that keeps me using CC is the W3C validation button: wow what a time saver for lazy people like me.
One of the very few things that didn't seem just right on the other editor was that the word wrap margin on the right had to be set at about 2" to prevent the screen from jumping left and right when the cursor reached the right edge of the screen. I have found that CC has a very similar behavior.
The little problem becomes a bit annoying when I drag the program from a 19" wide screen monitor over onto a 1024x768 15" monitor and have to resize the margin each time. I program sites (which is why I use different sized monitors so that I can see how a site will look for different people with different monitors) and I do a lot of other work on the computer at the same time, so I might have 10-20 programs running simultaneously. I drag the programs to different monitors when I need to keep two or more screens in view.
Does CC have any plans to automatically adjust the text to screen width? It is likely that I will order the full version regardless, but I would like to know beforehand just so that I will know what to expect.
I am slowly unlearning the habit of using keyboard commands for things like preview and editing views, but the margin thingy just won't go away.
Thanks!
Question of word wrapping - Post ID...
I guess you are talking about the little vertical line that you can set as visible in the preferences. I have to admit that I never use it. I don't have it visible. And besides, the position of the right margin, if we are talking about the same thing, will have no impact on what a web page will look like in different sized monitors. That is determined by CSS or HTML settings in your code.

Thanks for the reply Inger. I just downloaded and installed the trial version of 2010se which appears to not have the margin oddity like the free version. Now I can drag the program to any monitor without having to resize anything. Nice!!
It appears that perhaps many of the CC users might only use the visual editor, and the margins within the code editor would never be a concern, but I type the actual coding for HTML, CSS, etc., and so I am always in the code editor screen without ever using the visual editor.
Just for the fun of it last night I downloaded and installed a big name editor (two hour install)..... probably the worst editor I have ever seen! For those of us who type code but want a few external command shortcuts, CoffeeCup seems close to ideal.

I have never installed or seen the Free Editor, and as I'm a coder myself, I never use the visual mode of the registered version either.
I've had dealings with several 'big name' editors over the years, but they don't tempt me. I've been faithfully sticking to cc since 2004. The html Editor does exactly what you tell it to do, and that's the kind of control I like to have.
